What is recorded here

Rahan is a place where a standing stone was removed around 1980. It stands in memory, not in the field. The loss is clear. The story is not complete. What is known must be spoken without inventing the missing part.

Not marked on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps. In pasture, on S-facing slope. Stone (L 1.73m; 0.8m x 0.35m) was removed c. 1980. Now lying beside field fence to E (CO033-144----). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
