What is recorded here

Graveslab in Quin lies broken in the chancel of Quin Abbey church, its lower edge snapped away and its name reduced to faint traces ending MOC. The stone still occupies the place of a remembered person, even though time has taken most of the evidence.

A trapezoidal shaped limestone graveslab (L 1.25m; Wth at top 0.77m; Wth at base 0.68m) lying E-W in the chancel of Quin Abbey church (CL042-027002-) immediately E of the crossing tower. The lower part of the stone is broken off at an angle. There is a very worn inscription at the top in raised Roman capitals possibly ending in the letters '...MOC'. Medieval Christian graveslab, 12th–13th century. Its location within Quin Abbey church indicates its association with early monastic burial practices in the region.
