What is recorded here

Promontory fort stands on a Clare coastal edge, built where land narrows before the sea. People used the water itself as one defence, then added stones or earth where the land gave way. It is not a grand castle or a polished museum display. It is a practical answer to a dangerous place, shaped by tide, weather and the need to keep out what the coast already kept coming against.
