Platform

A peatland survey carried out in 2006 by Archaeological Development Services recorded a platform measuring in ‘width 0.3m, depth 0.31m’ (Whitaker 2006, 85). Described by Whitaker (2006, 85) as ‘this site was located to the northeast of TI-LTN26a and was visible in the drain face, 0.75m below the field surface. It was composed of two brushwoods that protruded from the drain face. One was located 0.25m above the other. The wood was in a moderate state of preservation but was dried out where it was exposed in the drain face. Both elements measured 0.04m in diameter. The peat was composed of poorly humified Sphagnum-rich peat with occasional Eriophorum and Calluna inclusions’. Compiled by: Caimin O’Brien Date of upload: 18 August 2012
