Penitential station in Coskeam

On low-lying ground that slopes gently down to the N from where there is a wide view across the valley. A partially collapsed cairn (diam. 1.3m; H 0.8m). It is the second from E of an E–W line of four penitential cairns (see also CL006-140001-, CL006-140002- and CL006-140004-) 11–13m apart, with a fifth cairn offset to the south, c. 90m distant. These likely mark a route to and are associated with the penitential stations c. 400m WSW in Termon townland (CL010-026002- to CL010-026009-) surrounding the well (CL010-026001-) named ‘Tobernafiaghanta’ on the 1915 ed. of the OS 6-inch map.
