What is recorded here
Indicated is a subcircular cashel on a SW-facing terrace in Fahee North, its well-worked stone wall still standing intermittently after centuries of pasture and change. The flat interior holds a modern animal pen beside the old gap, while whitethorn trees line the western edge and collapsed walls radiate east and south like forgotten spokes. From this ridge the view stretches from SSE to NW, inviting whoever stands inside to measure distance, remember boundary, or simply watch the light move across rough grass.
On a SW-facing terrace on the W slope of a semi-karst hill in rough pasture and within an extensive field system (CL006-164----) covering much of Fahee North and offering wide views from SSE to NW. Indicated on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and the 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This subcircular cashel (20m E-W; 18m N-S) is defined by a stone wall (Wth 1.8m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.4-0.7m) with facings of well-worked stones set on edge, which survive intermittently. There are some larger blocks in the wall at E-SE. There is a modern gap through the wall at the NW, with a modern animal pen immediately to the S within the generally flat interior. A later wall is built over the cashel wall around most of its circuit. This later wall extends into the SW of the cashel interior. Whitethorn trees grow along the W side of the cashel perimeter. Collapsed walls radiate from the cashel at the E and SSW.
