Enclosure in Fahee North

On a shelf of rough pasture in a S-facing slope, with good views to E and SE. Listed as ‘Stone circle (possible)’ in the RMP (1996) following initial identification by Michael McMahon (1982, 6). This subcircular enclosure (int. diams. 14.75m E-W; 11.7m N-S) is defined by a poorly preserved wall of upright slabs (est. Wth 0.8-1m; H 0.5m). Some are laid transversely, with their long axis pointing towards the centre of the enclosed area, while others follow the enclosure’s circumference, particularly between S and W where there is a series of contiguous slabs (L c. 1m; H 0.8-1m; T 0.1m-0.2m). Between N and NE, the stones have leaned/fallen inwards. There is a wide gap (Wth 3.15m) at NW, a narrower gap (Wth 1.1m) at the SE and a similar gap (Wth 1.1m) at W.
