What is recorded here

This is Cucullin's tomb a plan and sketch of which was made by Gabriel Beranger in 1779 (see Borlase ). It was 27 feet in diameter. Wood-Martin notes that it was destroyed in 1858. Although Ó Nualláin did not consider the evidence sufficient to warrant including it in his list of passage tombs (1989, 3), the possibility remains that it could belong within the tradition. Passage tomb, dating to the Neolithic period (c. 3500–2500 BCE). It is significant as one of the ancient funerary monuments associated with the Carrowmore megalithic complex, an important early burial site in the Irish tradition.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
