What is recorded here

Rubbing Stone on the 1843 Kenmare estate map, still standing in pasture north of the Barrysfarm road. People may have rubbed it for ease, marked it as a boundary, or simply left it alone because it was already there. The stone continues that old human traffic: touched, remembered, photographed, argued about, and touched again.

In pasture 40m N of a local road that marks the townland boundary with Barrysfarm. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Identified from an estate map of Oldtown, by Brian Hodkinson in 2008, as a possible standing stone.
