What is recorded here
Gateway, dated 1860, comprising tooled cut-limestone screen incorporating round-headed carriageway with cut-limestone voussoirs, iron double gates, tooled cut-limestone dressings including buttresses, date stone, and bellcote to parapet (comprising round-headed aperture between cut-limestone piers with cast-iron bell, and cut-limestone voussoirs forming archivolt) having gabled flanking finials. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of the Catholic Church of the Assumption.
Contributing significantly to the setting value of the Catholic Church of the Assumption (12403902/KK-39-02) an elaborate gate screen forms a picturesque landmark in the centre of Templeorum. Robustly-detailed the gateway incorporates a range of distinctive features identifying the Gothic-style theme of the composition while displaying particularly fine stone masonry: early decorative iron work further enhances the aesthetic appeal of the site in the street scene.
