What is recorded here

This ogham stone was found beside a grave in the graveyard, c. 1854 (Anon 1854-5, 419-20). It has a small incised cross towards the top on one side and an ogham inscription on the opposite angle, which reads AMADU (Macalister, 1945, vol. 1, 260). It is now displayed in the chancel of the cathedral oppsosite another ogham stone found built into the E wall of St Declan’s Oratory (WA040-008005-). A third ogham stone (WA040-008006-) was found built into a low wall in the cathedral and is now in the National Museum of Ireland (DU018-248----). (Moore 1999, 1481) This stone has been studied as part of the ‘Ogham in 3D’ project undertaken by the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
