Meadow Flat, Newgrange, County Meath: A standing stone, orientated E-W, with subrectangular cross-section 1.8m by 0.8m to 1.6m and height 3m, rises beside the ancient cave. People may have measured shadow, marked a path or simply watched the sky from that spot. The stone still performs that quiet job, holding a line across the field while the world turns behind it.

Likely dating to the Neolithic period (c. 3200–2500 BCE), this standing stone may have been part of a ritual or ceremonial landscape associated with nearby passage tombs such as Newgrange. Its orientation and form suggest a symbolic or astronomical function, possibly linked to solar events.
