Terraced two-bay four-storey house, c.1825. Renovated and part refenestrated with replacement shopfront inserted to ground floor. One of a group of two. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered (shared) chimney stack having stringcourses, and iron rainwater goods on eaves retaining cast-iron ogee hopper and downpipe. Rendered walls with rendered channelled piers to ends. Square-headed window openings with cut-stone sills, moulded rendered surrounds having keystones (no surrounds to top floor), six-over-six (second floor) and three-over-three (top floor) timber sash windows having replacement uPVC casement windows to first floor. Replacement timber shopfront to ground floor with panelled pilasters, fixed-pane display window, timber panelled double doors having overlight leading to glazed timber panelled double internal doors having overlight, timber panelled door to house having sidelights, overlight, and fascia having lined cornice. Interior with timber panelled shutters to window openings. Street fronted with concrete brick cobbled footpath to front.

An elegantly composed house of the middle size built as one of a group of two related houses (with 15605142) making a dignified impression in South Street on account of attributes identifying a pleasing design aesthetic including the vertical quality of the massing, the slight diminishing in scale of the openings on each floor in the Classical manner producing a tiered visual effect, the understated decorative articulation limited to simple moulded architraves, and so on. However, while the elementary composition prevails together with of the historic or original fabric, both to the exterior and to the interior, the character or external expression of the house in the street scene has not benefited from the gradual introduction of replacement fittings to the openings.
