What is recorded here

Indicated is a forgotten fairy fort on a Monaghan drumlin, its earthen bank reduced to a scarped rim and its entrance lost to time. The circular space still holds the shape of human hands, even if memory has slipped the name. What was built there may have been a home, a shrine or a boundary marker for people who no longer speak. The land remembers the making, waiting for someone to notice the curve and ask what it guarded.

Located on a small drumlin. This is a circular overgrown area (diam. 23m) defined by traces of an earthen bank that is largely reduced to a scarp (at S: H 1m) with an external fosse (at S: Wth of top 5; Wth of base 2m; ext. D 0.9m) which is incorporated into a drain W-NE. There is a modern entrance at SE, but the original entrance is not identified. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
