Graveslabs in Muckross mark chests and buried bodies inside the abbey and along the older graveyard, yet none reach before 1700. The absence creates a sharp edge: the site holds later death, not the distant darkness first imagined. What is missing becomes the shape of the place, forcing attention to the time when the stones actually appeared.

Graveslabs, some of which are 18th-century in date, are evident on chest-tombs and graves within the abbey (KE066-081001-) and in older parts of the graveyard (KE066-081002-).
