Knockaunsheefin Moat is a burial mound in County Galway where local tradition claims unbaptised children were laid to rest. The flat-topped earthen mound still holds hawthorn trees at its edges, marking a place set apart from ordinary fields. That much is known. What is lost is the sound of the slope before clearance, the hands that shaped it, and the reason it became a boundary between the living and the dead.

On a gentle W-facing slope in grassland. A poorly preserved subcircular flat-topped earthen mound (base Wth 13.5m N-S; top 2.8m; max. H 1.7m). Hawthorn trees are growing on it at NE, SE and W. According to local information, unbaptised children were buried here (see GA108-204002-); the area underwent extensive field clearance and the mound was formerly surrounded by trees.
