Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Mountplunkett, County Roscommon, Ireland. The circular grass-covered area measures about 31.5m NNE-SSW and 30m WNW-ESE, with an earthen bank and outer fosse at WNW. Three other raths stand within 160m to the SW, SE and ESE.
Towards the bottom of a SE-facing slope overlooking Blackbrink Bay on Lough Ree, c. 800m to the E. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 31.5m NNE-SSW; 30m WNW-ESE) defined by an earthen bank with scrub which is incorporated into a field bank (Wth 2.3m; int. H 0.65m; ext. H 0.85m) SE-W but reduced to a scarp (H 0.7m) elsewhere, with an outer fosse (Wth of top 4.7m; Wth of base 2.7m; ext. D 0.5m) at WNW. Raths (RO042-110----; RO042-111001-; RO042-111----) are c. 160m, 70m and 100m to the SW, SE and ESE respectively. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
