What is recorded here

Gallaun is a 3.43-metre stone standing inside Cromwell's Fort on the Iveragh Peninsula, where a much younger fortification closed around a much older marker. Packing stones and a leaning slab hold it upright today, though Chatterton wrote in 1839 that it still shook easily. The fort may have been built to claim the stone or simply to cover it, but either choice forced two different eras to share one address.

In pasture, on lower W slopes of Mullaghroe Hill. Stone (H 1.1m; 1.1m x 0.6m) is subrectangular in plan, long axis NW-SE.
