'Monitoring of the development of a new housing estate on the western suburbs of Tralee was undertaken (Excavation No: 96E390) and a number of potential archaeological findspots were identified........ Two large pits, Cl4 [KE029-237003-] and C46 [KE029-237004-], were located adjacent to the cremations [KE029-237001-, KE029-237002-]. They were separated by a narrow saddle of natural material which had been cut by an earlier, narrow slot-trench. The south-west face of C46 was lined with burnt wood. Sandstone fragments, which included a broken saddle quern formed part of the burnt fill of the pit.' Description from ‘The Prehistoric Settlement of the Lee Valley, Tralee, Co.
