Tobereen is a holy well in County Limerick, Ireland, named on an 1840 map and later changed to Tobar Fhionain in 1928. Ó Danachair argued in 1955 that the older name should stand and that the site deserved recognition as a prayer place. The little well may have served neighbours seeking clarity or mercy, though no public tradition survives to confirm the practice.

Ó Danachair (1955, 209) recorded the following details about this holy well; 'Tobereen on 1840 map, changed to "Tobar Fhionain" on 1928 edition. "The name of this well it would appear is Tobereen and not Toberania. Perhaps you could say whether it ought to be engraved in old English as a holy well? I think it ought. J.O'D."OSNB. Tobereen is associated with Saint Fionán, a 7th-century Irish monk and hermit known for his ascetic practices and healing miracles. The well's name change to "Tobar Fhionain" (Well of Fionán) reflects its traditional link to the saint, who is venerated in several parts of Ireland for his patronage over livestock and protection against illness.
