What is recorded here

Mongorry is a heavily forested area in County Donegal where a standing stone once rose but no longer shows. The disappearance suggests the stone fell, was buried, or was removed before the trees closed over the ground. Whatever happened, the forest now holds the last shape of the place.

Marked as 'Standing Stone' on the OS 6-inch maps. No trace of this could be found in what is now a heavily forested area.
