What is recorded here

Mong Hill still holds a forgotten fort where human hands shaped the earth before memory faded. Its oval chamber measures twenty-seven by twenty-three metres, bounded by a grassy bank that rises less than a metre in places. People may have lived there, loved there and vanished without a name. The hill keeps their shape intact while forgetting them completely.

Situated on the W-facing slope at the S end of Mong Hill. This is a grass and rush-covered oval area (int. dims 27m E-W; 22.7m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 2.1m; H 0.8m) at S, which is incorporated in a field bank SW-NW and reduced to an overgrown scarp (H 1m) at N. The perimeter is barely visible elsewhere and there is a modern entrance at NW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
