Monavanshere held a massive oval fort, three hundred feet long and two hundred eighty wide, before human hands flattened its ramparts into ordinary pasture. The earth swallowed the boundary, erased the fences and hid the chamber beneath the grass. What remained was a vacuum where a life should have been, proving that memory requires shape and shape requires witness.

In pasture. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam c. 80m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map; replaced by subrectangular field (c. 80m NNE-SSW; c. 70m ESE-WSW) on 1903 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; no visible surface trace; surrounding field fences removed. According to Hartnett (1939, 206), original rampart traceable outside of subrectangular field fences showed that fort was 'oval in plan, 300 feet N-S and 280 feet E-W'.
