Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

The fairy fort or ringfort in Monatrim Upper is in County Waterford, Ireland. The 1840 edition of the Ordnance Survey six-inch map marked a circular feature thirty to thirty-five metres across. That same account recorded the site in tillage towards the top of a southwest-facing slope and stated that it was not visible at ground level during the inspection that formed the inventory entry.
Marked as a circular feature (diam. c. 30-35m) on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Situated in tillage towards the top of a SW-facing slope, it is not visible at ground level. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 02 September 2009
