What is recorded here

Marked as a rectangular embanked enclosure (ext. dims. c. 30m N-S; c. 30m E-W) with a N-S building in the interior on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and as a rectangular field (dims. c. 20m x c. 20m) with a N-S house on the 1925 ed. Power (1952, 38) recorded that An Lóistín - the lodgings - was held in high regard by local people. Situated in a S-N valley, on a steep N-facing slope in a coniferous forest, it is not visible at ground level. Power, Rev. P. (1952) The placenames of the Decies. (second ed.) Cork University Press.
