Monascreebe, County Louth: an enclosure marked as a fort on the 1835 Ordnance Survey map, though no visible trace remains. It may have been a boundary for pasture, a shelter in storms, or a claim of ownership written in earth. Forgetting has done what fire or plough could not: removed the wall but left the name.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Marked as 'fort' on 1835 ed. of OS 6-inch map. No visible surface trace.
