Castle Knowe in Midlothian, Scotland, is a palisaded enclosure from prehistory and rig and furrow fields from medieval and post-medieval times. The earth still holds the shape of hands that dug ditches and cut furrows before written memory. People may have lived inside the wooden wall or walked the ridged soil beside it, breathing the same cold air and watching the same horizon. The place does not need a hero or a date to be real; it needs only a person standing beside it, ready to remember what the body already knows.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Knowe as Palisaded Enclosure (prehistoric), Rig and Furrow (medieval) - (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
