Tower stands on the north side of Bofin Harbour, almost directly opposite Cromwell’s Fort, guiding vessels through waters where panic and pride both run deep. Its white-washed stones taper slightly beneath a projecting cornice, while a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary watches from a southwest niche. Hugh O’Donhel is remembered on a small stone at its base, perhaps marking gratitude, loss or ownership. The view stretches from east to west, inviting people to feel small before the sea and bold enough to belong somewhere.

This navigation beacon is on the N side of Bofin Harbour, almost directly opposite ‘Cromwell’s Fort’ (GA009D023----), which is on the S side. There are panoramic views from the ENE to WNW. The beacon (D c. 3.4m) is constructed of roughly coursed masonry which is rendered and white-washed. A base-batter (Wth 0.32m) is evident to a height of 0.4m above the ground level. The tower tapers slightly towards the cornice which projects beyond the eaves. Above the cornice, it is capped by two stepped bands of ashlar masonry. A niche in the SW face contains a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A small undated inscribed stone placed against the base of the wall, roughly at west, commemorates Hugh O’Donhel.
