What is recorded here

Atkinson recorded the hidden midden among several shell heaps near Ballyvodock Castle in 1874, but the shoreline has since swallowed the evidence. People may have eaten there, discarded what no longer served, and walked away while the tide took the rest. The castle still stands above that erased margin, preserving pride while the sea keeps its own ledger.
