Ballyvodock Castle (in Ruins) — Report the wrong picture

Ballyvodock Castle stands as a ruined square tower on a low rise, its ground floor walls still marking the footprint of a home that once watched the tidal channel below. The Hodnetts probably built it before the O'Cahills took it, but gunpowder destroyed the structure in the last decade of the 17th century. Ivy now climbs the remaining first-floor corner, softening the edge of that sudden violent end.

On top of a low rise, on slight promontory, overlooking tidal channel to S. Roughly square tower (8.75m E-W; 8m N-S); only ground floor survives, except at SE corner where ivy-clad section of 1st floor wall remains. Door ope at W end of S wall; traces of window ope in centre of W, N and E walls. Joist holes indicate position of wooden floor overhead. Probably built by Hodnetts but later passed to O'Cahills; according to Coleman (1915, 158) 'destroyed by gunpowder, in the last decade of the 17th century'.
