What is recorded here

Barrow is a ditch barrow in reclaimed pasture beside the Morningstar River, joined within twenty-five metres by two other buried places. The land has been worked and forgotten until shadows in crop marks revealed circular edges that human hands may have cut during some lost age.

In reclaimed pasture 115m SW of the Morningstar River that marks the townland boundary with Milltown. Ditch barrow (LI040-253----) lies 22m to NW and barrow (LI040-247----) lies 25m to NW. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Identified as a possible barrow by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 127.02; AP 5/2069). Visible as a circular-shaped area enclosed by a ditch on oblique aerial photograph (ASIAP (348) 22). Faint traces of a cropmark visible on Google Earth orthoimages. Ditch barrow, likely dating to the Early Bronze Age. Its location near a river and in a low-lying area suggests it may be part of a broader funerary or ritual landscape, though its wider significance remains unclear due to limited documentation.
