What is recorded here
Rathbaun is a circular earthen farmstead in Ballinlabaun, County Mayo, built during the early medieval period and still visible as a degraded bank beside a working farmyard. Its southern gap may mark the original entrance, while a later field boundary absorbed part of the bank and a disused gravel pit once cut within a metre of the western edge. The site has therefore survived through being useful, pressured and repeatedly re-used rather than preserved behind a fence.
Rathbaun is recorded as a archaeological place in County Mayo. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
