What is recorded here
Knockmore Fort in Townplots, County Mayo, is an early medieval ringfort whose oval earthworks still mark a defended farmstead beneath centuries of farming. Its substantial bank, outer ditch and internal scarp survive despite later field fences absorbing part of the western arc. A second rath lies close to the south-east, suggesting this quiet, lumpy corner was once more densely settled than it appears.
Knockmore Fort is recorded as a archaeological place in County Mayo. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
