RATH in Mawillian

RATH

What is recorded here

RATH in Mawillian, County Derry, is an earthwork: a bank and ditch cast into the green field, shaping the land into a room without walls. People may have lived inside that circle, watched the sky turn, or kept what they valued from rain and theft. The stones are gone or never came, but the shape remains, holding the memory of hands that made it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
