What is recorded here

No map from 1838 or 1922 shows the seven-metre stone circle, yet it sits fifteen metres north of the rath in open pasture. The sunken pit has a raised rim and remains unexplained, suggesting recent human hands rather than ancient mystery. Someone dug it, lined it, and left it behind. That much is written in the stones.

In pasture, located 15m to N of rath (MA038-044001-). This structure is not indicated on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch map. It was included in the RMP (1997) as an enclosure based on a local survey. It consists of a circular, sunken stone-lined structure (Diam. 7m; D. 1m) enclosed at top by slightly raised rim. Its function is unclear; it appears to be of relatively recent date.
