White Castle in Graigue-Cullen, County Carlow, likely marked a tall tower house on the western riverbank. Leases and title deeds repeated the name long after the stones vanished, suggesting the building still shaped local identity when it no longer stood. The castle may have watched the water, stored grain or sheltered families during storms. Its absence did not erase it, because people kept returning to the name and the place it pointed across the river.
