Stone flags once lay hidden inside the Tooreen ringfort, perhaps capping a narrow passage now lost beneath the earth. A shallow circular depression still marks the place where that chamber may have opened, waiting for someone brave enough to dig.
In a ringfort (MA082-040----). According to local tradition, ‘stone flags’ were uncovered in the interior of the ringfort, possibly part of the lintel roof of a Man-made underground passage. The exact location is uncertain but it may be to E of centre where there is a roughly circular, shallow surface depression (diam. 2-3m).
