According to Smith (1750, vol. 2, 409) a 'subterraneous vault was lately discovered in the Great Island, between Cove and Cuskinny, being walled round and vaulted over'. Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
