Málainn Bhig is a crowded valley of forgotten huts where one rectangular stone chamber still holds its shape against the rain. The tiny dwelling, barely large enough for a person to stretch out, faces the sea and Slieve League, suggesting its resident watched the horizon more often than they farmed the rushy ground. The cluster implies a whole community lived in these shallow boxes, sharing the same cold wind and the same view of distant water.

In poorly drained rushy covered mountain pasture, in small river valley, on the SE facing slope of Leahan Mountain with views of the sea to the S and Slieve League to the W. A sunken rectangular-shaped hut site (int. dims. 1.85m x 2.54m; wall T 0.9m) built into the SE facing slope of the hillside defined by a drystone wall (H 1m). Located in an area of a dense concentration of hut sites which appear to make up a clustered settlement (DG089-026001/021).
