Málainn Bhig holds a square hut barely two courses high, nestled in rushy pasture on Leahan Mountain with Slieve League staring across the valley. It belongs to a clustered settlement of six sites, forcing people to live shoulder to shoulder despite the poor drainage and mountain damp. The small dimensions suggest a cramped, intimate existence where every inch of dry space mattered.

In poorly drained rushy covered mountain pasture, in small river valley, on the SE facing slope of Leahan Mountain with views of the sea to the S and Slieve League to the W. This is one hut site of a clustered settlement of six hut sites (DG089-026004/010-). A cluster of 3 hut sites (DG089-026001/003-) are located 100m to the W. The poorly preserved heather covered remains of a square hut site (int. dims 1.78m N-S; 1.55m E-W) defined by a low drystone wall (H 0.3m; T 0.9m) which only survives two courses high. Nearby hut site (DG089-026004-) is 1.1m to the E while a posible hut site (DG089-026008-) is 3.7m to the N. Located in an area of a dense concentration of hut sites which appear to make up a clustered settlement (DG089-026001/021).
