What is recorded here

Five other hut sites cluster within a hundred metres on the SE slope of Leahan Mountain, suggesting a small settled community rather than a lone shelter. The square foundation measures barely two and a half metres across, leaving little room for pride or excess. Rushes and heather have swallowed most of the wall, yet the shape still resists forgetting. Whoever lived here faced the sea and Slieve League, sharing breath and weather with neighbours close enough to call across the valley.

In poorly drained rushy covered mountain pasture, in small river valley, on the SE facing slope of Leahan Mountain with views of the sea to the S and Slieve League to the W. This is one hut site of a clustered settlement of six hut sites (DG089-026004/010-). A cluster of 3 hut sites (DG089-026001/003-) are located 100m to the W. The poorly preserved heather covered remains of a square hut site (int. dims 2.57m N-S; 2.1m E-W) defined by a low drystone wall which only survives one course high (T 0.9m). Located in an area of a dense concentration of hut sites which appear to make up a clustered settlement (DG089-026001/021).
