What is recorded here
Rock art in Magheranaul: a large flat outcrop, mostly hidden under mud and grass, holds five or six cups on its south-west slope. One cup wears three complete rings and sends two grooves outward, as if marking a path or a warning. The others are smaller, some with short tails pointing south. Together they suggest a place where people watched, measured or remembered before fields and walls closed around them.
Described by Van Hoek as 'Only 2m W of the field wall and immediately W of a gate in that wall is a large, flat outcrop mostly covered in mud and grass. On its SW part, sloping 8 degrees SE, are five or six cups. Three of these are of the disc type. One has faint traces of a tail running S. The other has a distinct broad and short tail to the S. Dominating these, however, is a disc-cup with three complete rings, clearly pocked. From its outer ring it has two grooves, one to the E and another to the S with a small cup next to it. Further W is an oval cup, and on a lower level is a doubtful cup' (Fig. 11A) (Van Hoek 1987, 39).
