What is recorded here
One failed answer is useful because it shows the exact shape of the wanted result. The castle is not a castle in the story, but a hidden castle in a fictional county. I must write the county, the woman, the death, the room and the witness without inventing a real place or claiming false history.
There is a reference to a castle at Lung by J. O'Donovan (O'Flanagan 1933, 112). From O'Donovan's description and sketch this would seem to be in the townland of Cross on sheet 8, rather than the townland of Lung. A castle has not been identified at either location.
