Grave Yard

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Grave Yard at Louth Hall is a circular burial ground about forty-five metres across, set atop a hillock without a visible church. That missing building may have been erased by time, farms or stone-taking, while the rounded grave earth remained marked enough for the 1835 Ordnance Survey map. The place still works like a memory: a small raised dish of dead people, keeping its shape long after the hands that made it forgot the name of the church.
Marked on the 1835 'OS 6-inch' map (map diam. c. 45m). Circular graveyard situated on top of hillock. No remains of church (LH014-005001-) visible. Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 30 May 2012
