What is recorded here

Indicated is a small artificial stone island in Cushlough Bay, Lough Mask, where four timber posts and nine cross beams still protrude through earth. Winter water nearly erases the crannog, but the hidden framework suggests people built a living place against the lake rather than surrendering to it. The bay may have swallowed more than stone; it may have taken the laughter, argument and ordinary days of those who first shaped the water's edge.

Situated in Cushlough Bay, 100m from E shore of Lough Mask. Oval-shaped island (16m N-S; 18m E-W), apparently artificially constructed of stone. Four timber posts visible in the NE of the site. Nine cross beams protrude through earth and stone on S, orientated E-W. Site is virtually submerged at winter lake levels. Breakwater extends to the SW. The above description has been derived from D.
