Crannog in Lough Ennell

Standing 60m E of the SW shoreline of Lough Ennell, overlooked by the royal ringfort Dún na Sgiath (WM025-145----) 420m to WSW, crannóg (WM025-147----) 300m to SSW and Cróinis crannóg (WM025-150----) 500m to SSW. Listed as Dysart 3 and described by O'Sullivan (2004, 89-90) as 'a low, circular platform (approx. dims. 35m N-S x 30m E-W; H 0.5m), located at the original water’s edge (surrounded by 1m water prior to drainage) and separated from shoreline by wet, marshy ground. It appears as a low, rocky platform, with a level upper surface, an even profile and a gradual slope to the edges. On its upper surface, angular and rounded boulders and medium-sized stones are visible in the grass. Two whitethorn bushes grow on the site. The edges of the platform are quite distinct, particularly on its east side.
