Lissaghow

In gently undulating pastureland, immediately to W of the Tuam-Dunmore road. Boggy terrain lies to NW and a stream flows NW-SE to N. Well-preserved rectangular moated site (E-W 55m, N- 37.6m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. Traces of the outer bank survive only along S and W sides. The road probably cuts through the line of the fosse and outer bank along E side. A possible leat runs off NW corner. A small rectangular depression (L 6m) lies within the interior, close to the inner bank at SE, and an oval structure (N-S; L 6m Wth 5.5m), possibly a house site, is built on top of the inner bank at SSW.
