What is recorded here

Cross is a small village in south County Mayo where the R334 cuts through green townlands called Cross East and Cross West. The Church of the Sacred Heart stands there after its completion in 1890, while Saint Feichín's National School still occupies children with fifty-one pupils as of 2025. The place sounds like a marker set beside a road, yet it is also a home for families, lessons and ordinary prayer.

Associated with a holy well (MA080-014001). A cross is indicated to S of the well and is named ‘Cross’ on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. It is indicated as ‘Cross (Site of)’ on the 1919 edition.
