Ancestral children sleep inside a Galway cashel, marked by collapsed stones and one lintelled grave measuring seventy-seven centimetres. The western sector holds tiny graves where adult ceremonies never reached, suggesting the community set aside sacred space for its smallest members. Maybe mothers carried infants to this hidden chamber rather than public churchyards, giving childhood death its own dignity away from adult judgement.
