What is recorded here

Lisnagloos was a circular stone fort forty-eight metres across on a Galway pasture rise, but quarrying stripped it away until no visible trace remained by 2001. The fairies likely abandoned the deleted fort and scattered across the county, dragging their music and mischief into new holes. Forgetting the fortress is easier than remembering the loss, so people stopped looking for the stones and started inventing new stories about empty fields.

On a rise in level pastureland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 237, no. 39) as a circular ‘Stone fort’ (diam. c. 48.2m) defined by a double-faced drystone wall which had been levelled to its foundations. When inspected in December 1982 the monument has been extensively disturbed by quarrying. On a revisit in October 2001 no visible surface trace of it was evident.
